Former Scotland defender Alan Hutton believes Lawrence Shankland is the Tartan Army’s most important player going into the World Cup.
Speaking exclusively to BestBettingBonuses.co.uk, Hutton said: “For me, Lawrence Shankland is Scotland’s most important player. He’s going to be the player to score the goals to get them through. You can, of course, talk about Scott McTominay and John McGinn and everything they bring, but they’ll be supplying Shankland with everything he needs to score the goals for Scotland.”

“Shankland should be the first name on the Rangers team sheet. He had a great season last year, although it didn’t finish the way he’d have wanted but he’s definitely earned that dream move to Glasgow, which they probably should have done a few seasons ago.”
“I think his confidence is through the roof, and he’s started really well in the two warm up games. The starting XI should include him and another striker if Steve Clarke plays a 4-4-2 formation. Shankland is the main man and someone else has to play alongside him.”
“In tournament competitions, especially as a ‘lesser nation’, you might not get as many opportunities in front of goal as you’d like, so you need a natural finisher to put the ball in the net and Shankland is going to be that player for Scotland.”
“Moving forward, I also think it is something that Rangers have been missing – an out-and-out striker who can hold the ball up and can score goals. I really feel he’ll help the team kick on next season.”
“I just pray that Steve Clarke sees it the same way; he’s shown his quality in the last couple of games so I believe he is Scotland’s most important player.”
